ABOUT US

Our organisation was originally established in 2003 as the Welfare Centre for German-speaking Seniors by the SA German Association Inc. to support older members of the German-speaking community in Metropolitan Adelaide. In 2012 we became incorporated and have since been operating as German-speaking Aged Services Association Inc. (GSASA). Our services are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and the the Community Visitor Scheme (CVS), administered by the Department of Health; and we receive funding from Carers SA to deliver carer services under the Integrated Carer Support Services (ICSS) Model as part of the Carer Gateway.

We understand as persons age, their culture and heritage often become even more important- they are part of everyone’s identity. The majority of our staff and volunteers are German-speaking, and within our community a person is more than a number!

At GSASA we support German-speaking seniors and their carers to retain and strengthen their resources such as independence, knowledge, language, mobility, and friendships. GSASA links persons back to their community; here they meet peers that can relate to their interests and background.

ÜBER UNS

Unsere Organisation wurde 2003 als Wohlfahrtszentrum für deutschsprachige Senioren vom Deutschen Verein in Südaustralien gegründet, um ältere Mitglieder der deutschsprachigen Gemeinde in Adelaide zu unterstützen.

2012 wurden wir als unabhängiger gemeinnütziger Verein eingetragen und operieren seitdem als German-speaking Aged Services.

Wir beziehen unsere Förderung durch das Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) und das Community Visitors Schemes (CVS) sowie Leistungen für Pflegende in Zusammenarbeit mit Carers SA.

Wir erleben so oft, dass im höheren Lebensalter Kultur und Muttersprache wichtiger werden. Tatsächlich sind sie ein zentraler Teil unserer Identität.

Die meisten unserer Angestellten und Ehrenamtlichen sprechen Deutsch, und innerhalb unserer Gemeinschaft sind unsere Klienten mehr als nur eine Nummer!

Der Deutschsprachige Seniorendienst unterstützt Sie dabei, ihre Stärken zu erhalten und auszubauen- ihre Mobilität, Unabhängigkeit, ihr Wissen, ihre Sprache und ihre sozialen Kontakte! Wir sind ihr Bindeglied zur deutschsprachigen Gemeinde, bei uns treffen Sie Gleichgesinnte mit ähnlicher Geschichte.

Social support (Group) including meal and transport
Social support (Individual)
Respite – In-home or Centre-based
Support with language, memory, and vision or hearing impairment
Information and coordination of services
Carer support (material goods or services, peer support groups)
Volunteer visits at home or in residential facility
